Jason Benetti is officially leaving the White Sox.
The broadcaster has been with the Chicago baseball team for eight years.
The lifelong White Sox and MLB fan shared that he's making a move, but staying in the midwest.
Benetti is taking on a new role as the play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Tigers in Michigan.

He signed a multi-year contract.
He will start his new gig as an announcer on the Bally Sports Detroit broadcast beginning in the 2024 season.
However, Benetti will be employed by the Tigers, not Bally Sports Detroit.
He said in a statement: "I’m incredibly proud to join this historic and ascending Tigers franchise.”

In a statement released to Chicago's ABC 7 news, White Sox chief marketing officer Brooks Boyer added: "We are proud to see Jason continue to live out his dream to bring the games he loves into the homes of fans in his unique style."

Who is Jason Benetti?
Jason Benetti was born in Homewood, Illinois, a few miles south of Chicago.
He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a toddler.
Benetti underwent years of physical therapy and multiple surgeries to improve his ability to walk.
Benetti graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in 2001.
He was the school's disc jockey and play-by-play announcer for the school's various sports teams.
He graduated with bachelor's degrees in broadcast journalism, economics, and psychology from Syracuse University in 2005.
After graduating from Syracuse, Benetti enrolled in Wake Forest University School of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctor degree in 2011.
Before working with the Chicago White Sox, Benetti served as an intern for Chicago sports radio station WSCR and worked in broadcast television for ESPN.

In 2016, he replaced recently retired Hall of Fame broadcaster Ken Harrelson as the TV play-by-play announcer for select Chicago White Sox games.
While working with the White Sox, he also served as the play-by-play announcer for NBC's baseball coverage at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
In August 2022, Benetti also started to do play-by-play for Fox, covering college basketball and college football.
