Who is Dr. Phil?
Born Phil McGraw on September 1, 1950, Dr. Phil has been a household name since the early 2000s.
Starting in 1996, Dr. Phil was on the team that helped Oprah Winfrey win a lawsuit against the Texas beef industry. After their victory, she invited him to be a guest on her talk show. He quickly became a regular on the show following his first appearance on Oprah in 1998.
Towering over at 6'4", Dr. Phil was a football player in college before he returned to school to earn his Ph.D. in psychology in 1979.
Shortly after that, Dr. Phil and his father opened their private practice.

Dr. Phil then launched a self-motivation seminar called Pathways, before founding the company Courtroom Sciences, which helped lawyers build their cases.
After years on Oprah, Dr. Phil launched his self-titled television show in 2002. The show received over 20 Emmy nominations and Dr. Phil was inducted into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame in 2015.
In January 2023, Dr. Phil announced that his show would end after the 2022-2023 season.
In a statement issued by CBS Media Ventures, Dr. Phil said: "I have been blessed with over 25 wonderful years in daytime television.

"This has been an incredible chapter of my life and career, but while I’m moving on from daytime, there is so much more I wish to do."
However, on November 6, 2023, it was revealed that the seasoned talk show host will be staying on the TV screen.
Dr. Phil took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce he will be launching his own cable TV network which will showcase his new talk show, Dr. Phil Primetime.
"I’m coming back in primetime on a whole new network that’s called Merit Street Media," Dr. Phil revealed.
"It’s my new network, but I’ve got some news that I want to share with you about that. This is actually not my network, this is our network.
"This is something that’s going to be focused entirely on what’s important to you. What you want to talk about, what you want to do and Dr. Phil is going to be on in primetime."
Dr. Phil Primetime is set to premiere on February 26, 2024, at 8 pm ET.
Who are Dr. Phil's children?
Married in 1976, Dr. Phil and his wife, Robin, are the parents of two boys.
The two met at Dr. Phil's parent's house and their first date was an airplane ride with Dr. Phil as the pilot.
According to Robin on multiple occasions, the two fell in love at first sight.
On September 12, 1979, their first son, Jay Phillip McGraw, was born.

Jay studied psychology in school and works as a writer and producer for television.
In 2005, Jay and Dr. Phil co-founded Stage 29 Productions, where Jay is the CEO.
Stage 29 Productions is located in Los Angeles and houses multiple television shows, including Dr Phil and Bull, a spin-off based on Dr. Phil's Courtroom Services.
Born October 21, 1986, Jordan McGraw is the second son of Dr. Phil and Robin.

Jay has been married to Playboy model Erica Dahm since 2006, and they have two children together, a daughter, Avery, and a son, London.
