Slipknot's Joey Jordison latest – Drummer's 911 call revealed after death and transverse myelitis diagnosis

JORDISON OPENED UP ABOUT DIAGNOSIS IN 2016

At a 2016 awards ceremony, Jordison talked about his diagnosis.

“I got really really sick with a horrible disease called transverse myelitis. I lost my legs,” Jordison said while accepting an award.

“I couldn’t play anymore. It was a form of multiple sclerosis, which I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

“I got myself back up, and I got myself in the gym, and I got myself back in f**king therapy, to f**king beat this shit. And, if I could do it, you could do it.

“It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, more than f–king anything. To people with multiple sclerosis, transverse myelitis, anything like that, I am living proof that you can f**king beat that sh*t.”

WHEN DID JORDISON LEAVE SLIPKNOT?

Formed in 1995, Jordison stayed in Slipknot until December 12, 2013, when it was announced he left the band due to personal reasons.

However in a 2016 interview, he revealed he was fired.

Jordison told Metal Hammer: “All I got was a stupid f***ing email saying I was out of the band that I busted my a** my whole life to f***ing create.”

FANS FLOOD TWITTER WITH TRIBUTES

Fans are flooding Twitter to share the impact Joey Jordison had on them.

One fan shared a painting of the late drummer, with the caption: "I made this tribute peace dedicated to Joey Jordison from the world famous slipknot . R.I.P to the legend"

WAS JORDISON FIRED?

Jordison was the founding drummer and co-writer for the heavy metal band Slipknot.

Formed in 1995, Jordison stayed in the band until December 12, 2013, when it was announced he left the band due to personal reasons but in a 2016 interview, he revealed he was fired.

“All I got was a stupid f***ing email saying I was out of the band that I busted my a** my whole life to f***ing create,” Jordison told Metal Hammer.

CHAIN OF DEATHS AND OVERDOSES LINKED TO SLIPKNOT

Jordison’s death comes after Paul Gray, the band’s bassist, left millions of fans in mourning after he was found dead in a hotel room in 2010.

Backing vocalist Shawn Crahan, known as “Clown”, lost his 22-year-old daughter Gabrielle Crahan after a “drug overdose” in 2019.

And the same year, fan Richard Valadez, 62, died at a Slipknot gig in Illinois shortly after he was hurt in a massive most pit.

Crahan, 51, almost lost his own life after diving headfirst into a bin filled with water during a festival and struggled to breathe for 35 seconds.

And Slipknot guitarist Mick Thompson, 47, was rushed to hospital with stab wounds after a wild knife fight with his brother in 2015.

WHAT DID JORDISON DIE OF?

Jordison’s family told Billboard in a statement that he passed away peacefully but did not give a specific cause of death.

In 2016, Jordison revealed that he had been diagnosed with transverse myelitis.

As a result, Jordison lost the ability to move his legs, which he cites as one of the reasons he was fired from the band in 2013.

It is unknown if his death is a result of his condition.
