Runoff election day in Eagle and Mountain Home mired by electioneering reports

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — It is election day once again for three jurisdictions in Idaho after those contests failed to receive a 50% majority vote. With tight races that failed to secure a victor in those locations, the Idaho Secretary of State is reporting that they have received notice of potential "electioneering" at polling locations. Electioneering means promoting a candidate or party at or near a polling location and is illegal within 100 feet in Idaho.

Eagle and Mountain Home are still in search of their new mayors. Four candidates ran in November to become Eagle's next mayor, and it was a fairly tight race for three of them. Jason Pierce secured the most votes at 35.48%, but fell nearly 15% below the required threshold. Brad Pike with 31.41% and Stan Ridgeway with 26.50% kept Pierce from securing the job. Marc Degl'Innocenti only secured 6.61% of the vote. The two candidates with the highest number of votes are on the ballot today, Jason Pierce and Brad Pike.

Mountain Home is also still in search of their next Mayor. Another four candidate race split the votes, with Rich Sykes getting the closest at 41.89% of the vote. Sykes faces off against Pierce in the runoff election Tuesday against Misty Pierce, who secured 35.56% in November.
