Harrison, 51, sported the balaclava at the start of Football Night in America, which he presented live from Arrowhead alongside Jac Collinsworth and Tony Dungy.

The NFL analyst admitted to struggling with the frigid conditions with the temperature at the Chiefs' home dipping to three degrees about five hours before the Wild Card matchup's kick-off.

"Oh my God, it's so cold," he said as the crew welcomed the TV viewers with the snowy field in the background.

"This is the coldest I've ever been at a football game and you look on the field, there's five, six trucks trying to clear.

"It is unbelievable."

Harrison later said his mouth was so cold it was difficult to talk.

And while NFL fans sympathized with the freezing sportscasters, some poked fun at the ex-NFL safety's attire.

"They really couldn’t find @Rodney_Harrison something else to put on his head?" one wrote on social media.

"Rodney NOT looking happy or comfortable outside in KC," another added.

"Rodney Harrison freezing lmfaooooo," a third said.

"Rodney Harrison does not want to be in Kansas City now," one wrote.

Later during the show, Harrison could be wearing a grey beanie with an NBC logo on it as the broadcast returned to Arrowhead.

However, he switched back to his ski mask as the night went on.

The two-time Super Bowl champion transitioned into sports broadcast after his retirement from football, making his NBC Sports debut in 2009.

Temperatures were forecasted to reach as low as -10 degrees with wind chills expected to possibly make it feel like -30 in Kansas City on Saturday night.

In the lead-up to the playoff matchup, the Chiefs shared tips on how to stay warm in what could turn out to be one of the coldest games in NFL history.

Patrick Mahomes later shared the message on his social channels.
