Knox, 24, was dealt to Utah at the trade deadline on Thursday, February 8.

But a day later, the franchise announced they were cutting the forward.

This season, the former Kentucky star appeared in 31 games for the Pistons, averaging slightly over seven points per game.

In the trade, Detroit received second-year NBA player Simone Fontecchio.

Now Knox will hit the open market, free to sign with any NBA team that offers.

Previously, the 6-foot-7 forward has had stints in Portland with the Trail Blazers and in New York with the Knicks.

In New York and the NBA in general, Knox has failed to live up to his high draft expectations.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, NBA fans were shocked by Knox's quick release and speculated where he'd wind up in the league next.

"He's already gone," a third remarked.

"Kevin Knox should come to the Spurs," a fourth said.

In six NBA seasons, Knox has averaged 7.4 points per game.

However, he's struggled mightily with his shooting efficiency, hitting just 39% of his field goals and 34% of his 3-point attempts.

Worst comes to worst, if Knox can't find a job with an NBA team, he can sign with an NBA G League franchise and work his way up to an NBA roster again.
