TWO sheriff's deputies are dead after being shot while serving a warrant on Thursday, officials said.
Two suspects have been taken into custody for questioning, Cobb County authorities said late Thursday night.

The deputies from the Cobb County Sheriff's Office in Georgia approached the home of the suspect to serve a warrant when they were fatally shot at.
Officials with the sheriff's office said the suspect then was barricaded inside the home.
The identities of the two deputies have not yet been released.
Authorities have also not yet named the two suspects.

Several emergency crews, including the Cobb County SWAT and FAST teams responded to the scene.
"Two @CobbSheriff deputies died tonight in the line of duty while serving a warrant. SWAT and FAST teams are at the scene. The suspect is barricaded," tweeted the sheriff's office.
"We will release additional information, including the names of the fallen deputies, as it becomes available."
Authorities did confirm late Thursday that the deputies were serving a failure to appear warrant.

The Cobb County Sheriff confirmed that this was the first time since he took the post 18 months ago that the department has had officers shot in the line of duty.
Resources were called in from across the state of Georgia to assist with the response.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been asked to investigate the two deaths.
