Khloe Kardashian had yet to tell her sisters Kim and Kourtney Kardashian that she was expecting another child via surrogate with her on-off boyfriend Tristan Thompson, when she discovered he had been unfaithful to her yet again.
Basically, in the dramatic season one finale of the Hulu show The Kardashians, scenes showed Kim's raw reaction upon learning about Tristan's cheating, telling her heartbroken sister Khloe on the phone: "If this isn’t the biggest sign for you to not have another baby with this human being….”
However, in The Kardashians season two premiere, Khloe explained that during the dramatic time, Kim was not aware that her and Tristan's surrogate was likely already pregnant - and she went on to break the news to her off-camera.
Khloe was clearly emotional as she reflected on the difficult period, before the episode showed footage of her son's birth via surrogate at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA on July 28. Tristan was not present during the birth but was invited later to meet the newborn.
Mother of two Khloe added that her son's birth officially allowed her to "close that chapter and be done with this trauma". Good riddance, Tristan!
The news that the third Kardashian sister, together with Tristan was welcoming another child together via surrogate, was first reported on (13 July 2022), and the internet quickly speculated on why the pair might have chosen to conceive their second child together this way.
A statement issued by the couple read: "We can confirm True will have a sibling who was conceived in November.
"Khloe is incredibly grateful to the extraordinary surrogate for such a beautiful blessing. We’d like to ask for kindness and privacy so that Khloe can focus on her family."
The couple already share a daughter True, 4, who was born in 2018, and whose birth in Ohio was captured on camera as part of season 15 of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. But as Khloe carried True to term herself, her decision to use a surrogate for her second has left fans with questions about why.
Well, according to a source, the use of a surrogate is down to “medical reasons: "There were medical reasons that factored into her decision to use a surrogate, but not putting such a strain on her body was a huge motivation", they told Heat Magazine.
“Kim and Khloe know their bodies are their meal ticket, they made a pact at the start of the year that they'd go all out to get into the best possible shape, and they've thrown themselves into the project,” the source added.
"It's getting quite competitive between them - they're both in the gym constantly and are spending thousands every month on their looks. They live to see jaws dropping with envy, admiration and confusion everywhere they go."
But some fans have speculated that deciding to use a surrogate might also be down to the rounds of IVF and sustained angst that getting pregnant with daughter True entailed. Khloe underwent three failed cycles of IVF and was forced to abandon the eggs she once froze because they weren't strong enough to survive the defrosting process.
The star has previously revealed that she was so worried that something would go wrong, she waited until she was six months gone before she and partner Tristan announced the news.
Hinting at her struggles to conceive, she told the hosts of the Lady Parts podcast at the time: "I had been waiting and wondering, but God had a plan all along. He knew what He was doing. I simply had to trust in Him and be patient."
