I live completely off-grid in a box truck - it's a tiny home on wheels with a kitchen, big screen TV & air conditioning

A VAN-LIFER has revealed the box truck he's converted into a brilliant house on wheels - filled to the brim with homely features.

Scott, who's in Orange County, California, lives completely off-grid in the truck but still has a plethora of home comforts - including clever under-floor storage, a huge bathroom and even a spare bed for guests.

In his van tour, which is posted to the YouTube channel Tiny House Giant Journey, he said: “I've owned RVs and boats my entire life and it was very easy to transition into a smaller RV, especially when I retired.”

Scott explains that he bought the truck from a friend and “got busy” - tailoring it to his needs as a retired Californian who loves surfing.

To save on space, Scott installed a small kitchenette next to the bed but still has all the cooking appliances he needs, such as a microwave that's stored underneath the bed, and a pantry on the floor revealed using a pop-up trap door.

The kitchen itself boasts a good-sized cooktop and a deep stainless steel sink with hot and cold water.

He even claims the truck has never been plugged into an outlet and has run completely on solar power for three years.

The motor's electrical appliances include a fridge and separate freezer, two air conditioning units (with one AC vent positioned conveniently above his bed), a washing machine and water heater, as well as a 50-inch television screen in his small living area.

For extra security, Scott even has a monitor system with cameras positioned on the truck's outside.

Perhaps the most impressive feature is the bathroom and toilet - which has been taken from a sailboat.

On the tour, he said: “This is the same toilet I had in my sailboat.

"The reason I went with this instead of the composting or the regular RV toilets is it doesn't stink.

“It's like in your house when you flush it, it actually flushes with water and it holds water so you never get the smell from the holding tank.”

Scott revealed that his family often come to stay with him, with his son able to sleep in the spare guest bed while his grandson sleeps on the floor.

His lifestyle sees him spend six months of the year in California surfing, and then the other six months are spent in the Arizona desert.

All-in-all, he says the build cost him a total of $65,000 - which is roughly £51,000.

This comes as a new mum revealed how she and her partner built a camper van into a "studio flat on wheels" using videos on YouTube so they could travel with their baby.

How a £20 Ikea item lets you transform a van in a camper in just 10 minutes

Stephen Reid went viral when he uploaded a TikTok clip showing how he converts his work van into a kitted-out camper in 10 minutes using a £20 Ikea item.

He used a few sheets of plywood and some railing bought from the popular furniture chain to construct a temporary bed in the back of the vehicle.

In no time at all, he was able to screw the frame together and create a comfortable place to sleep almost out of thin air.

Once it's built, he can pile the rest of his camping equipment into the back of the van and get going on his travels.

Best of all, once he's done it takes just moments to collapse the bed, which can then be stored in the van until he needs it again.
