I'm a 21-year-old 'Supreme' collector - I have every single box logo t-shirt ever released then sold it for $2 million

THE first and only complete collection of every Supreme box logo shirt ever released was worth $2 million.

When the skateboarding brand started in New York City in 1994, no one thought its t-shirts would one day be up for sale at the famous Chrstie's auction house.

The company's "box logo" shirts are its most famous; it's a plain t-shirt with a box that holds the name Supreme.

Christie's held a private sale called Behind the Box: 1994 to 2020, featuring every box logo t-shirt made at the time.

James Bogart was the person who managed to put together the collection, which ended up being the first and only known one of its kind.

What's more incredible is that he did it in just six years.

He paid a "couple hundred dollars" for the first shirt in the collection, which was the Damien Hirst box logo.

That was in early 2015 when he says people were just starting to realize the value of Supreme shirts.

"A lot of publications started covering the fact that there were these old box logos that were also worth so much money," he said in an interview with Complex.

"So, you saw an influx of old collectors come forth with their collections saying: “Look, I've got 40 of these shirts and I never knew they'd be worth this much.”

"At that point, the market sort of flooded with a lot of the older and rare tees that had been sitting around these guys' closets since the ‘90s. As soon as I grabbed that tee, I started paying attention to all the other shirts that were getting listed and uploaded. That drove me to want to know everything about the box logo tee because I couldn't believe it."

In total, there are 253 shirts in the collection, including every Supreme shirt that had a retail release and 12 additional shirts that were reserved for special events.

He sourced many of the shirts from a trip to London he took when he was just 17 from another collector.

"If I hadn't made that connection, there's absolutely no way that I'd have some of the tees in my collection today," he said.

A few of the shirts are worth as much as $35,000, which Bogart calls a "one-in-a-lifetime buy."

Another incredible collection had been lost in a basement for years.

Michael Rorrer was cleaning out his great aunt's basement when he came across a stack of comic books.

He had no idea that his great-uncle Billy Wright had carefully curated a collection of 345 issues, featuring the debuts of iconic characters like Batman and Superman.

"I couldn't believe what I had sitting there upstairs at my house," he said.

The bulk of the lot sold for $3.5 million in an auction.

The highest earner was an issue of Detective Comics No. 27 which features the first appearance of Batman. It sold for $523,000.

Two other standouts were Action Comics No. 1 and Batman No. 1 from 1940. They sold for $299,000 and $275,000, respectively.
