Trust Florence Pugh to bring the glam to the Oscars 2023. It's been a big month for Miss Flo, who has been busy burning up the red carpet and the FROW. Just last week, she gifted us with another stunning updo at Paris Fashion Week aka a “pixie, swirly thingy,” (her words, not ours). And, for the Academy Awards, she referenced iconic '50s Screen Queen, Audrey Hepburn, with her own 2023 twist.
Florence's hairstylist, Peter Lux, recreated Audrey's famous cropped fringe, for the actress, then remixed it with a split ponytail, with half flipped forward toward her fringe and tied into place with a velvet ribbon. Given she was fringeless the last time she was spotted out and about, we're putting our money on this being a faux situation. But, we think Florence might have shopped her own stash for the hair piece after serving up a very similar situation last month.
It's the second time that Flo has taken inspo from Audrey recently. At last month's BAFTAs the actress gave us another dinky fringe moment, updated with a fan of hair fronds halo-ing her head.
But that's not the only Audrey reference. Her makeup artist, Alex Babsky, also sketched in the super straight brows that were Hepburn's signature.
Florence kept it cool and current with her dainty septum piercing and soft smoked-out eyes, but even though she looked phenomenal on the Oscars champagne carpet, she dropped a #BTS on Instagram, revealing she woke up with a spot, ofc.
“Big day and look who decided to turn up!” she posted on her IG Stories, moving her finger to reveal a zit. “Classique” she added. But, her makeup artist, Alex, called on Valentino's Very Valentino Foundation in MA2 and matching concealer in LN4 to keep it covered for the evening, before setting it with the V-Lighter Rosa Perfecting Powder in Light 02. And, without her sharing the pic, you could never tell.
So, as always, we're here for Florence Pugh, turning it up (but keeping it real).
