Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo added 3-inch heels to a pair of Nikes “to create a new and compelling style”.

The quilted leather shoes are being sold at fashion house Comme des Garcons’ London store — though it is unclear who will buy them.
A source said: “If you play footie in them you’d probably break an ankle.
“And the price tag means it’s likely that only Premier League wags can afford a pair.”
The shoe boasts quilted leather in either black or white and keeps the distinctive Nike swoosh along the side.

Unveiling the design, Kawakubo said: “The Nike Tiempo Premier was first introduced in 1992.
“This modern rendition is designed in smooth, quilted leather, comes in both black and white colourways.”
