Facebook Messenger down updates — Hundreds report issues with Meta apps as 'pictures not sending' on message service

How to delete my Threads account

The only way you can delete your Threads account is by deleting your Instagram account too.

If you're absolutely sure you want to get rid of both, go to your Instagram profile and tap the three line icon in the top right.

Select Settings and privacy.

Then go to Account Centre.

Tap on Personal details, followed by Account ownership and control.

Go to Deactivation or deletion.

Select your Instagram account.

Tick the Delete account option, then tap the Continue button.

Can you delete a Threads account without deleting Instagram?

Millions have joined Mark Zuckerberg's brand new social network Threads.

Chances are, some people merely downloaded it out of curiosity and now want out.

But it's not quite as straightforward as that.

It turns out there's currently no way to delete your Threads account only.

That's because it's tied to your Instagram account.

According to Meta's help guide, the only way you can purge your Threads account entirely is by deleting your Instagram account too.

"Your Threads profile is part of your Instagram account, and may be deleted at any time by deleting your Instagram account," it reads.

Facebook Messenger outages map

As expected, most reports of issues with Facebook Messenger are coming from the UK’s population centres, especially London.

The same can be said for the United States.

Reports continue to rise in the US

Reported issues with Facebook Messenger in the US are continuing to rise, after a brief drop-off earlier this afternoon.

At 2.08pm 351 users recorded they were experiencing problems on Downdetector.

Complaints in the UK continue to fall

User complaints have continued to drop this afternoon, according to reports on DownDetector.

Reports peaked at around 520, but dropped to only 346 at 1.46pm.

How can I check if the problem is widespread?

The DownDetector is a useful tool to check if there are any problems on certain services – including social media platforms and phone lines.

People can report any issue they are experiencing on the website, which then creates a live outage map.

It shows how widespread the problem is and clarifies if it is only happening in a certain area.

There is also an option for users to comment and explain the problems they are experiencing.
