Dirty Dash mud run officially canceled, organizers cite fire danger

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) — The mud won't be flying this year for thousands of mud lovers.

The Dirty Dash has officially canceled this year's mud run after organizers scrambled to find a suitable location.

"Unfortunately, time has run out, and it is getting too cold," Dirty Dash said in a statement on Facebook.

In June, organizer say fire officials asked them to postpone the event due to critical fire danger. It was postponed until Oct. 8, but earlier this week race officials say they moved the event to the Ada/Eagle Sports Complex for Oct. 22.

"Over the past 2 weeks we talked with all of the proper stakeholders and in a meeting on Tuesday, we were given verbal approval with some conditions," Dirty Dash said. "We received word this morning that they were unwilling to work with us on a short time frame. We are understanding of this but of course hoped they would be more accommodating for an event that has been important to the Boise area for so long."

Earlier this week, KBOI 2News reported the change of venue, which promised hot showers, but city of Eagle officials say a permit was never granted.

All racers will be receiving refunds, organizers say, within three weeks. If you registered more than four months ago, you should receive a check in the mail.
