His decomposing body was found in the ventilation system of the college's performing arts center after reports of a foul smell.
Thompson, 36, had gone missing from his sister Shelby's apartment on October 25, and was found less than a mile away.
Security footage from Shelby's home shows the last time Thompson was seen alive as he left her home at 5:41 pm.
The video shared by Shelby shows Thompson bending over to hug his nieces before he leaves.

"Never in his life has he ever gone without contact with our family for more than 24 hours, not once.
"This is completely unusual for my brother!"
Macomb College Police Chief William Leavens declared that there is no reason to suspect foul play as the department awaits a cause of death from the medical examiner.
"At this point, it is important to remember that this an ongoing investigation, with the goal to understand the circumstances," Leavens added.
Despite this ruling, locals feel differently with students even questioning why classes are going ahead in the area where the body was located.
"Macomb has yet to send out any email to the students about this," Ruby Bell wrote on Facebook.
"Class is still going on today even at my building that’s connected to the building the body was found.
"Not sure why Macomb hasn’t reached out to us yet but this is very insensitive of them."
Meanwhile, on the local community page, others commented: "Body in duct work BUT not suspected to be foul play? This makes zero sense."
However, one said: "That can change as they continue the investigation."
Thompson's sister Carissa paid tribute to the late father on a GoFundMe page.
